Managing your discussion groups...
FastTalk Discussion Group Software is an optional component for
Aliquant. It allows you to set up multiple threaded discussion groups on
your website. If FastTalk is installed you will have a link on the
administration section Edit Discussion Groups. This link will
take you to the FastTalk administration site and automatically log you
on to the site.
Add a New Discussion Group...
From the FastTalk administration site choose Add New Discussion
from the administration navigation bar.
Group (Link) Name: Required...Maximum length 50
characters...
The text entered in this field is used to create a "text
link" to the discussion group from the FastTalk discussion group
list page (disc/start.asp). It is also used at the top of each
discussion group page.
Description: This text is ONLY used on the Discussion Group
LIST page. Maximum length 500 characters and may include basic HTML
tags.
Alternate Color 1 & 2: To make your FastTalk discussion
messages more readable the software can be set to display messages in
alternating background colors. Alternate Color 1 and 2 lets you choose
these alternating colors. Click the "Choose Color" link to
open a new window that will allow you to choose your preferred color
by adjusting the appropriate sliders. You may also enter the
appropriate HEX color code directly in the text boxes.The HEX code
must include the # sign at the beginning.
Acive: The "Active" box indicates whether or not
users can access this particular discussion group.
Password Required: The "Password Required" box
indicates whether or not users will be required to login to access
this discussion group. The "Account ID" will always be the
same as your account ID. You can, however, set a unique password for
each discussion group. If "Password Required" box is checked
you MUST include a password in the "Password" text box.
Password: Required if the "Password Required" box
is checked...Maximum length is 20 characters and cannot contain spaces
or special characters.
Choose the Save Group button to save the new discussion group.
List All Discussion Groups...
This navigation bar link will give you a list of all discussion
groups in your site.
Left Column: Displays the discussion group name, active
status of the group and password required status
Edit Group: Lets you edit each group.
Delete Group: Lets you delete the group and all associated
messages.
Edit Threads: Lets you delete individual threads or all threads
older than a specified date.
Link Builder: This link automatically creates two URL's to this
discussion group. One uses a set of built in pages that use your
existing site layout. The other creates an IFRAME link that can be
used in any HTML page to display the discussion group
Edit Threads...
This page shows you a list of all message threads in the discussion
group. You can choose to delete one thread, multiple threads or all
threads older than a specific date. Deleting one thread at a time may be
necessary if you have a inappropriate post.
Link Builder...
The link builder page includes all of the information you will need
to create links or IFRAME code. Please read the instructions carefully.
