Header, Footer and User Navigation Files...

There are eight (8) user files necessary to operate an Aliquant website. If you had your site designed by a professional web designer these files are already in place on your site. If not, you will find a default file for each required user file in the UserFiles folder on your site. These files are:

  • header.htm - This file is included in the header section of every page on your site except the home page.
  • footer.htm - This file is included in the footer section of every page on your site except the home page.
  • leftnav.htm - This file can be included in your navigation bars on all pages except the home page. It is referenced as User Navigation 1.
  • rightnav.htm - This file can be included in your navigation bars on all pages except the home page. It is referenced as User Navigation 2.
  • homeheader.htm - This file is included in the header section your home page.
  • homefooter.htm - This file is included in the footer section of your home page.
  • lhomeeftnav.htm - This file can be included in your navigation bars on the home page. It is referenced as User Navigation 1.
  • homerightnav.htm - This file can be included in your navigation bars on the home page. It is referenced as User Navigation 2.

These files can be created in any HTML editor and uploaded to the site. If you do so you will need to remove all of the HTML code before and including the <body> tag and all HTML code after and including the </body> tag.

Aliquant also provides you with a built in WYSIWYG editor to create your files. On the administration section choose Site Content Management. You will see the following links:

Edit Site Header...
Edit Site Footer...
Edit Site User Navbar 1...
Edit Site User Navbar 2...
Edit Homepage Header...
Edit Homepage Footer...
Edit Homepage User Navbar 1...
Edit Homepage User Navbar 2...

Each link will allow you to edit the selected user file.

The illustration above shows the user file editor for a site footer file. The WYSIWYG editor allows you to create the content using the more common word processing commands. (See WYSIWYG).

The width of the editor will be approximately the same width as the file you are creating. Make your changes and choose the Save Changes button to save the new file.

The first time you use the editor for a file in your site the content section of the editor will be blank. After you save the file the first time the content information will also be saved. Please Note: If you upload a user file manually the editor will NOT reflect the new file.
