Membership Management...

The membership component of Aliquant is an optional component that lets you add several valuable features to your site.

  • It allows you to add multiple membership levels and set annual dues for each membership level.
  • It allows you to add content available only to registered and approved users who have registered for membership.
  • It allows you to publish a membership list and restrict access to that membership list to a certain set of membership levels.

While this is a complex component it is fairly easy to set up and manage. You will need to add the "Membership" component to one of your navigation bars for the membership links to display. (See Navigation Bars)

Adding Membership Levels...

You can add multiple membership levels to your site. Every site has a "Visitor" Level (level zero) that allows everyone to view your site. To add additional membership levels from the administration section choose Membership / Membership Levels.

This page returns a list of all membership levels in your site.

Membership Overview: The program allows you to require a membership registration to view information on your site. Each site section, section content page, section link and news category allows you to choose the membership level required to view the content. When you choose a membership level, any member registered at that level OR HIGHER can view the information.
General Description: You may have as many membership levels as you wish. The default level is "VISITOR" and should be assigned a membership level of zero. Without this level no one will be able to view any content on your site. Each successive level should given a sequential level number.
Each successive membership level is allowed to view all content assigned to that level and all content assigned to levels underneath it. For instance a membership level 2 member will be able to view all level 2 membership information and all membership information for levels 1 and zero.
Edit Membership Levels: Lets you edit a specific membership level. Please Note: If you change the LEVEL of a particular membership it will affect existing members at that numeric level regardless of the NAME of the membership level.
Delete Membership Levels: Lets you delete a membership level. Please NOTE: If you delete a membership level when there are users assigned to that level those members will NOT be able to access any information other than Visitor (Level 0).
Set Show Level: Sets the minimum level a member must be registered for to have a listing in the "Membership Listing" section of the site. (See Membership Listing in the documentation).
Set View Level: Sets the minimum level a member must be registered for to view the "Membership Listing" section of the site. (See Membership Listing in the documentation).

Add New Membership Level...

From this page choose Add New Membership Level

Membership Levels: You must have at least one membership level for site visitors. The default parameters for the VISITOR membership level are:

  • Stock Code: MEMBERVISITOR
  • Quantity Discount: 0 (Zero)

Level: This is a numeric integer value. Each member at a specific level has access to all site content for that level and all levels below that based on this numeric value. IE., Level 3 membership has access to Level 3 content AND content assigned to Levels 2, 1 and zero.
Annual Cost: This must be a numeric value for the cost of this membership level. This is used in the membership registration page to produce the cost for new members and membership upgrades. USE NO DOLLAR SIGN.
Stock Code: REQUIRED: Use only upper and lower case letters and numbers...use no special characters. This value is an internally used value and MUST BE UNIQUE.
Quantity Discount: This is a percentage value that is used to discount the "Annual Cost" amount IF the user chooses an annual renewal greater than the QUANTITY LEVEL.
Quantity Level: The minimum number of years the member has to sign up for to get the QUANTITY DISCOUNT.
Description: This description can be any length. It is displayed on the membership registration page.

Adding Membership Categories...

Membership categories are only used if you choose to add a membership directory to your site. When a qualified member enters their information they can choose up to 6 categories for their business. These categories are used by site users to locate specific types of businesses. From the administration section choose Membership / Membership Categories.

To add a new category enter the category name in the text field to the left of the Add New Category button and click the Add New Category button. The category will be added to the category list.
To edit a category, make your changes and click the Save Changes button to the right of the category. You can change only one category at a time.

Show New Members...

From the administration section choose Membership / Show New Members. This will display a list of members that have not yet been approved. This list contains new registrations and members who have upgraded from one membership level to another.

Search Results - New Members: Displays all new registrations for the site.
Member Information (Left Side): Displays the primary information about the membership registration
Name: The members name
Email Link: Email address (Link)
Registration Options:

Upgrade: Shows the original membership level and the new requested level.
Registration Date: Shows the original registration date for the user.
Administration Actions (Right Side):

Approve: Allows you to approve the membership. Once approved the membership cannot be un-approved... it can only be de-activated.
Price: If this is an upgrade the program displays the amount due for the upgrade. If this is a new membership no amount is displayed.

If you have set membership approval to "Registration Approval Required" (See Site Setup Values / Base Site Values / Registration Approval Required) you must approve the membership before the user can access their membership level resources. If Approval is NOT required the member will be able to access the resources as soon as they complete the registration.

If you are charging for a membership level you will want to wait for the membership fees to arrive prior to approving the registration.

Member Search... When you use the member search ( Membership / Search Members ) the resulting list looks just like the new members list and you have the same administrative options.
